Fun story....<br />
A week or so ago, after one of my runs, I ran into Gma's for some water and a visit while I waited on VBS to start across the street.<br />
She opened the fridge to get the Brita pitcher and then she looked at something else in the fridge. Then back at me. Then back at the mysterious something in the fridge. She had this odd contemplative look on her face.<br />
Then, as if coming to come conclusion, she asked if I would like some cantaloupe.<br />
That's when I realized she was thinking about whether or not she wanted to offer me the cantaloupe she had pre-cut for lunch the next day.<br />
Since Gma knows of my affinity for the delicious golden fruit, she was worried I would devour the whole thing and she would have no table fruit for everyone else at lunch.<br />
At realizing this I laughed and promised to leave some for everyone else.<br />
<br />
I'm not gonna leave my Gma shamed by her inadequate fruit spread in front of the whole family! How embarrassing would that be?!<br />
<br />
Long story short... I love cantaloupe and my Gma.... In that order. (J/K Gma. You's tha bomb.)<br />
<br />
And moving on....to more food.<br />
<br />
When I got home all the Mister could talk about was how "We HAVE to have Tasty Rice for supper." So I made us some Cilantro Lime Vinegarette (with salad to go under it) and some Tasty Rice. It was fantastic.<br />

Here are the recipes for the vinegarette and Tasty Rice.<br />

Cilantro Lime Vinegarette:<br />
<br />
1 bunch of cilantro - Minced super fine (can use food processor)<br />
1 cup Good Seasons Italian dressing<br />
Juice of 2 limes<br />
<br />
<br />
Tasty Rice<br />
<br />
1 Can Beef Consumme (we use campbells)<br />
1 Can French Onion soup (campbells again)<br />
2 Cups Instant Rice<br />
1/4 stick of Margarine (the original calls for a whole stick but we only had a 1/4 of one and it tasted just as good. So might as well shave those calories.)<br />
<br />
Pour all ingredients directly into a baking dish and stir a couple times. Cover with foil. Bake at 400 for 30 to 45 minutes. Easy Peasy.<br />

Enjoy the foodery. Its mouthgasmic.<br />

Now for a quick Soap Box Edition of FFFblog.<br />

Yesterday at small group we ended up talking a lot about Worth.<br />
Not like what you house, or car, or huge rock are worth, but what you as a person are worth.<br />
<br />
EVERYONE has worth ... and lots of it!<br />
What you have, how you look, and where you're from do not designate your worth. Those things don't make you any more worthy of love, or respect, or consideration. It is just fluff.<br />
<br />
You are worth something because you were created from love.<br />
You are loveable. You have worth. Period.<br />
<br />
Where we start to lose sight of our worth is when we look to others to find it.<br />
No one else can make you see your own worth. You have to find and feel that on your own.<br />
<br />
So, I asked the group to go home that night and write down all the things that make them feel worthy.<br />
Starting with the most basic thing. I am here so I have worth. Then add to it through the week when more and more comes to mind (and it will). I told them that I would do it as well and we could share them at the next group meeting.<br />
<br />
I've decided that, in honor of full disclosure, I should share some of my list with you all.<br />
<ol>
<li>I am here. I was made from love and that makes me loveable. </li>
<li>I am easy with a smile.</li>
<li>I am forgiving.</li>
<li>I love unconditionally and with gusto.</li>
<li>I laugh hard, and loud, and sometimes at wierd/inappropriate times.</li>
<li>I have faults and lots of them.</li>
<li>I can admit when I'm wrong and apologize for it.</li>
<li>I'd never leave someone hangin' on a high five.</li>
<li>I cry EVERY time I hear the national anthem. Just do.</li>
<li>I don't let the bad things that happen to me in life steal my tenderness.</li>
<li>Hugs are my second language.</li>
<li>I watch SpongeBob, Gravity Falls, Rugrats, and TONS of other cartoons by choice. Not just because my kid wants to watch them.</li>
<li>I am kind.</li>
<li>I am a sucker for puppies.</li>
<li>I always share my candy and snowcones.</li>
<li>I can murder a canatloupe.</li>
<li>I can't watch talent related reality shows. I get too nervous for the performers.</li>
<li>I love my C-Man unconditionally. It doesn't matter that I didn't make him.</li>
<li>I try to remember that I don't know what someone else's story is and owe them my love and kindness regardless of how they seem to be. That may not be how they are.</li>
<li>I always try to find a silver lining.</li>
<li>I know I have worth and I love myself. Flaws and all.</li>
</ol>
There you have it. My worth in a nutshell.<br />
Know that you have just as much worth as everyone else and that you are the only one who can make yourself feel that worth.<br />
I don't care who you are I love ya and you have worth. Anyone who doesn't think so will just have to go suck an egg.<br />

You have to be with yourself for the rest of your life. So you might as well like yourself.<br />

This was where C-Man got the chance to be a real manly man. He went coon hunting with his Dad, Uncle and Cousin. They didn't actually shoot anything but they wanted to give him a chance to see the dogs tree a coon or two. </div>

So yesterday I had time to get in two miles after work before small group. And thought that would be a perfect post stomache bug distance to get back into my groove. It was a great run! Low temps, smelled like rain, great tunes streamin in from Pandora's Pop Fitness station. Money.<br>

So my first run after 4 days of Dehli Belly wasn't too bad. I was a little weak and slow goin' but I made it without incident! I also learned that God Loves You Whether You Like it or Not. <br>

Lordy I am getting frustrated with the slowness of my return to running. I expected to be able to immediately run 5 miles at my regular pace. Easy Peasy. It's not like a 3 month hiatus from running ever effected anyone's stamina right?!<br />

I was apparently suffering from a hopeful delusion. I have been struggling to get through any more than 2 Miles at a time at my regular pace. </div>

So frustrating!</div>

I feel like I have had to start from scratch.<br />
But I realized the other day, during my patheticly short run, that running a ton of miles isn't the most important thing in the world. (or so I am telling myself)<br />
Here is what I have to remember:<br />

I am still lapping everyone on the couch.</div>
I am still being healthy.<br />

I am still 20 lbs lighter than I was before.</div>
I will get back up to high mileages.<br />
I will keep getting faster. <br />
I will keep getting stronger.<br />
I will keep losing pounds and inches.<br />

I just have to stick with it.</div>

So I have resolved to keep fighting the good fight and work my way back up to 5 or 6 mile runs and quit feeling like a failure that I am unable to start where I stopped. If you are in the same boat with your running, DON'T GIVE UP! You'll get there when you get there!</div>

So pretty light workouts last week due to the heat and the fact that I am trying to work back up to my longer runs. Even though it was killer hot out last week I still managed to really enjoy all of my workouts. That may have been the heat exhaustion talking but I'll take what I can get.<br />

It was such a great weekend! Calynn's play to wrap up theatre camp was on Friday evening his Aunt Tara and Uncle Brian came down for the weekend so they could see it. He was a Forest Bunny and let me tell ya, he was a damn good one!!<br />

Mona is from the first litter of puppies the breeder had for his bassets. She is so sweet but kind of an attention whore. She can't stand it if she doesn't get the first pet when you walk in the fence. Luckily the other two are very patient.<br />

Of course, if it is just too miserable out, I will just make it an Abs and Arms day and do my workout after C-Man's show tonight.<br>

BytheDoubleU, C-man has been going to theatre camp all week and their show is tonight! Color me Stoked!! They are putting on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. He is a bunny. And let me tell you he was not too excited about he bunny at first. He really had his heart set on Grumpy. But he has warmed up to the part and is really excited for the show tonight. (The kid loves an audience.) <br>

On another, equally adorable note, our old neighboors who own a beer store on the way to house in the boonies, had a new litter of Basset Hounds! They are the cutest things EVER!! <br>

<u>The Buddy System vs. Lone Ranger System</u><br />

Buddy System: Group of 2 or more friends who run/workout together on a weekly basis so that they feel accountable to others as well as themselves to get and stay in shape. <br />
Synonyms for Buddy System: Pleasant, Entertaining, Flies by<br />
<br />
Lone Ranger System: Group of 1 aka exercising solo in the miserable heat with nothing to break up the menotony. Also known as the mental abyss. Alone to grapple with your own thoughts and having to push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you. Because, like I said, you're alone. Alone.<br />
Synonyms for Lone Ranger System: Sometimes Tedious, Character Building, Mental Battlefield<br />
<br />
There are pros and cons to both systems. <br />
The Buddy system is great because there is a sense of competativeness that helps to push you to go faster and longer and be better. You get to break up the menotony with a little bit of conversation even if it's "This....sucks.....balls." And you have someone to hold you accountable for your exercise time. Someone to make sure that you workout when you say you are going to workout. The only bad thing about the buddy system is that two people's schedules don't always match up. So you have to be resolved to go do your workouts even if someone cancels on you.<br />
The Lone Ranger system is great because it definitely builds character and fortitude. If you're going it solo you learn to push yourself and are held accountable for the promises that you make <strong>Yourself</strong>. Even if you are participating in the Buddy System you should go it Lone Ranger style every once in a while so that you don't become dependant on someone else to get in a run or a workout. It's easy to workout when others are there to push you and build you up but its really something to take pride in when you push yourself to be the best version of you that you can be and know that you are responsible for all the changes that you have made to your health, your appearance and your life. The only bad thing about the Lone Ranger system is that it sucks as much as it rocks.<br />

Today I have to give a shout out to my kiddo! The C-man turned 8 today! So happy birthday buddy!<br />
He wanted to have his birthday party at the baseball park and have a family ball game. I was actually a little sceptical at first. I didn't know if everyone would play or not, but it was fantastic!! All the kids had a ton of fun and the adults, especially the dads, were really good sports and made all the kids feel like pros. Best birthday party so far. Funtastic.<br />

Yes I have been MIA for a bit. Life happened. It wasn't pretty.<br />

Moving on... This morning all I have had is a breakfast that consisted of coffee and coffee. So healthy, I know. This morning I was rushing because my lazy butt stayed in bed till 6:50 and I was forced to rush like a mad woman to get out of the door by 7:30. I barely remembered to put pants on let alone grab a banana ... and that's epic saga of how breakfast was forgotten.<br />

Had a great workout last night. It really kicked my butt so I thought I would share that with you guys. Wouldn't want to deny you the chance at jelly legs. They're funtastic! As always, keep in mind that I am not a personal trainer or certified in any way to tell you waht you should do with you body. So its always a good idea to consult a physician before you start a new fitness regime. I'm just sharing what I do. Do with it what you will.<br />

Total Body Workout:<br />

High Knees - 1 minute<br />
Squat Jumps - 15 to 20<br />
Mountain Climbers - 15 to 20<br />
Froggers - 15 to 20<br />
Lunge Kicks - 15 to 20<br />
Pike Plank - 1 minute<br />
Scissor Abs - 15 to 20<br />
Squat-Lift-Twists - 15 to 20<br />
Jumping Jacks - 1 minute<br />

For this workout, depending on your level of fitness, you can do it 1 to 5 times with a 30-60 second break in between each full workout. The entire workout should take about 15 minutes to complete. Also if you are just starting out it might be good to only do 10 reps of each exercise and build up to 15 and 20. <br />

This was a killer workout. It really got my blood pumping and sweat pouring!<br />

Had a Gosh Damn IT! moment yesterday during my run. I think I am getting close to chucking out my shoes as a bad fit and moving on to something else. This ticks me off. Majorly.</div>

I have never bought a pair of running shoes that cost me $100 before. EVER. I am way to poor to be doing crap like that. I have been running, up until Christmas, in a 3 year old pair of New Balance shoes that I purchased at Ross for like $40. Agast as you may be right now, they worked fantastically! I was never sore, my form felt pretty good, and I never felt focused on how weird my feet felt when I ran. </div>

Well now that is definitely NOT the case. I waited 6 frickin months to get a fancy high dollar pair of bad ass running shoes and now all I want to do is switch back to my old NBs and throw these into a deep dark abyss where I never have to look at them again. Damn it. I keep having pain on the inside of my right ankle, tweaking in my knees, and a weird feeling in my toes every time I my foot falls. All of which have never been a problem until now. </div>

<u>Training</u> <br />
In a word... Sucking.... I did not keep to my half marathon training plan at all last week. No long run period and only two of the shorter runs. So now I have to accept the fact that <strike>regardless of the any excuses I make</strike> I am basically a week behind.<br />
<br />
Silverlining, It has made me super motivated to really hit it hard from now on to make sure that I don't hate every second of my first Half. So my projected 4 miles for today will happen with no excuses!<br />
<br />
<u>Taking Inventory</u><br />
Due to the lame-o week I had last week I had to really take inventory of my dedication to this Half. I had to decide if I was going to make it a priority or keep making lame excuses not to have to run every other day.<br />
<br />
I. Am. Dedicated. I have decided that even if I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning to run before work, I will. If I have to be a lamesauce wife a couple days a week and make the Mister fend for himself for dinner, I will. And if I have to hate every-single-minute of a run from time to time and complete it anyway, I will. <br />
<br />
I want to do this and I want to do it right. So now it is up to me to make it happen.<br />
<br />
<u>Task Oriented</u> <br />
To get this dedication to stick, I have decided to be more task oriented. I will just look at the training one day at a time. I think the whole, fixating-on-actually-having-to-run-13-miles-in-one-go thing is really screwing with me (in a makes me want to wet myself kind of way). <br />
<br />
So no more looking ahead. I will just dominate one run at a time until the day is here and then own that Half on race day.<br />
<br />
<u>Tits</u><br />
I can tell that I am going to start having some major boob issues the longer the runs get. I could definitely use some advice from any seasoned runners who have figured out how to tame their business in the front. So if you have found the Bra to End all Bra Shopping please let me know. The ladies would really appreciate some extra support!<br />

My First Half !!!Good Mornin' Ladies!<br />

I have some exciting news to share with you all. I am going to be running my first Half Marathon in April! Holy Crap right?! <strike>I think I might throw up</strike> I'm so excited! It is the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. <br />
<br />
My brother convinced me that running a Half would be "awesome!" That's about all it takes with me. Tell me something is going to be awesome and consider my ass on the band wagon <strike>and bitching when its less awesome than promised</strike>!<br />
<br />
I am actually getting super stoked about the whole thing. I will be running it with my brother's main squeeze Darc whom I love muchly and her sister Misty who is super funtastic as well! Brother is going to run the full because he is a badass and eats Marathons for breakfast. I wouldn't be surprised if he wrestles bears and takes out the garbage in his spare time..... show off.<br />

Anyway....<br />

Bub made us all training plans, because that's what personal trainers do, and I am on my way to 13.1 miles!<br />

I have two different versions. 1.) the original, which is a 23 week plan (that is how many weeks we had till the race when he made it) 2.) a 16 week version of the same plan.<br />

I am hoping to get in a 10k along the way as a training run just so that I can get the feel for a race since I haven't been in one since high school...yikes.<br />

Why you might ask? <br />
I will tell you why..<br />

On October 8th my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes after his blood sugar spiked to over 740. He was Medi Flighted from his mom's in Oklahoma to OU Med in OKC. <br />
She called Hubs and I, he was at work and I was at home, and we were out of town in under 40 minutes. This is impressive since we were 30 minutes apart. Complete panic for your child can make you move incredibly fast.<br />
The drive from our house to OKC was the longest drive I think I will ever make in my life.<br />
When we got there he was talking out of his head due to his exponentially high blood sugar. They had to bring it down very slowly so it took a full day before he was coherent.<br />
He was in the hospital for 5 days.<br />
And let me tell you, I have never seen a kid be more brave. Bud was poked, proded, given shots and woke up every 2-4 hours for days and hardly complained at all.<br />
He now knows just about everything there is to know about his diabetes and isn't one bit ashamed of being different.<br />
The second weekend he was at our house I asked him if he thought he would like to give himself a shot. I told him "if you aren't ready that's ok, but I really think you can do this." He thought for maybe 30 seconds and said "Ok, I'll do it."<br />
So, three weeks out of the hospital and he is giving himself insulin shots.....with me hovering over his shoulder :)<br />
Now he gives himself nearly all of his shots (at least 4 each day) and hardly ever complaining about any of it.<br />
I don't know if you would have guessed from all of that but he is only 7 years old. Like I said, never seen a kid be more brave. He's my inspiration no doubt.<br />
I would also like to give a huge shout out to the staff or nurses, doctors, diabetes educators and endocrinologists at OU Med Children's Hospital. We could not have been more blessed. We left that hospital knowing everything there was to know about Bud's Diabetes and were completely confident that there would be no surprises because we had be thoroughly educated on everything we needed to know to keep him safe and healthy. THANK YOU!!<br />

So, that ladies, is why I have been out of pocket for a while. I needed to switch my focus for a while.<br />

Waving - We are going to be waving goodbye to my brother on Saturday. He is going to be moving to Austin to start a new job there that he is very excited about. He is going to be a personal trainer for a big gym down there and is super pumped about the whole thing. He is not only excited about his new job (which he will kick major ass at) but also about moving and trying something new in a big city.<br />

So, to keep with the cajun theme, I decided to whip up some Jambalaya for me and Mister's supper and thought "why not share this <strike>shit show</strike> cooking experience and tasty recipe on the blog"<br />

So here is kind of a recipe for jambalaya (I eyeball everything so these are just guesstimations):<br />

<u>Jambalaya:</u><br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
1 Chicken Breast (chopped)<br />
1 or 1/2 Turkey Sausage (chopped)<br />
1/2 cup Celery (diced)<br />
1/2 cup Onion (minced)<br />
2 cups Minute Rice<br />
2-3 T Canola Oil<br />
2 tsp Creole Seasoning<br />
Dash Cayenne Pepper Powder<br />
Dash Garlic Salt<br />

Finely chop up the onion and celery. Add celery, onion, and canola oil to a large skillet and saute until softened. While that is cooking make the Minute Rice as specified on the box.<br />

Then add chopped cooked chicken and sausage to the celery/onion pan. (I had a pice of chicken left from chicken salad and used it.) Add one tsp of the creole seasoning and mix well.<br />

Next add the rice and the rest of the seasonings (creole, cayenne, garlic salt) to the skillet and mix well. <br />
<br />
Side Note: I usually end up adding more creole seasoning. So give it a taste and add more if you want it spicier.<br />

I felt super stoked about it going in. Then 10 minutes later I was walking out and getting in my car. <br />
I was not feeling it yesterday. Once I got on the TM I started hating the fact that I was there. So I finished up a mile and threw in the towel. <br />
I don't want to try and force myself to run when I don't want to because I'm worried that it will make me start to resent doing it all together.<br />
Today I am feeling motivated again and am hoping for a much less lame workout this evening.<br />

As for this weekend - My Nanny and Sheila came up from Austin for a visit this weekend and wanted to come see our rent house. They have not been able to see it since we moved into it about a year ago. Well, even though we have lived in it for a good while now, we still didn't have everything unpacked, put away, or hung on the walls yet. So when they call Saturday and were like "Hey we are going to come see your house this afternoon!" I was like:<br />

So Mister and I got up and, while calmly freaking the eff out, got the house completely finished and pristine in only 6 hours!! We hung stuff all over the walls, unpacked what needed unpacking, stored what didn't, scrubbed the bathroom, did dishes, scrubbed the kitchen, did laundry, dusted EVERYTHING, made all the beds and turned on the Scentsy's. The only thing we couldn't do was vacuum because ours decided not to power on for some sassy reason.<br />
It was the first time our house has looked emaculate since we moved in. I was SO PSYCHED!!<br />
The fam came out (Nanny, two aunts, two cousins, and little BJ) and were super sweet and complimentary, and brought us awesome house-warming gifts! <span style="font-size: x-small;">(that I forgot to photograph! Oops.) </span><span style="font-size: small;">I will post a pic of them tomorrow. </span><br />

Now on to running! Yesterday I had a great workout. I ran 2 miles at a mid pace and 1.0 incline. Then I jumped off the tredmill and onto a mat for my 10 minute <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3259180308199690945#editor/target=post;postID=6921566840025454348" target="_blank">Ab Burner</a>. Then got back on the tredmill for 2 miles at a fast pace goes up and down from a 0 to a 2.0 incline. It was a <strike>sweaty nasty</strike> FANTASTIC workout. I felt amazing after I finished, was drenched in perspiration, and smelled like sweaty camel balls. It. Was. Glorious.<br />

I have put together a badass running playlist for this afternoon's long run. So there it is. My Bubblegum "POPsicle" playlist. I think it is going to be great for keeping my pace up because all the songs have a pretty fast tempo. <br />

On a very sweet and awesome side note, my Nanny is here for a visit!! She lives in a small town near Austin and I haven't seen her in probably 5 months or something. She lived here until last year and I am not used to seeing her so little. It is craptastic :( but she is very happy being down there with some of her other grandkids, great grandkids, and her own kids. <br />

Anyway, she came to the office to see me today and visit a friend who was admitted and she gave me some change and said "Flowerpot <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(her pet name for me),</span> I just got a coke and here's some money for you to get yourself one too cause you're working so hard you need to have a coke." How sweet is she. So after my run today I am going to break my "no diet cokes" rule because of my sweet, tender Nanny.<br />

Meeting up with her and the rest of my mom's family for chicken noodle soup and a good visit this evening after my run. Hopefully they won't mind my runners stench.<br />
